Nautical Wedding Theme

Here is another inspiration board for a nautical wedding theme, from the sadly no longer Faye & Greer blogspot, love the cupcakes with the little flags and the favour bags. The use of yellows and lemons with the navy is also a crisp colour combination bringing a little sunshine into otherwise what could be a rather austere colour scheme.

The first Gibraltar Boat Show will take place in the New Marina and Leisure Island of Ocean Village on the 9th to the 12th April. We are very excited to be involved as the organisers search for a bride and groom prepared to have their wedding on one of the yachts. Here we have put together a nautical wedding theme ready for the big day. I have had such fun with this theme as there is so much you can do with the preppy blues, whites and reds. Flags, ropes, starfish the list is endless!

Twig centrepieces for weddings

Having posted that lovely photo yesterday of the beach setting with the twig centrepieces, I found this in my archive of fabulous photos, again of twig centrepieces with tealights hanging from them. Such a stunning way to dress a wedding and again can you imagine these all twinkling at night. That cake looks rather lovely too!
I do not have the credit for this photo so if it belongs to you please let me know.

Turquoise Beach Wedding

I just fell in love with this photo again from Karen Wise, it is so calm and tranquil and such a fabulous setting that reminds me of the silvery sunsets we have here in Marbella. Sitting by the sea on a summers evening is probably one of my top three favorite things to do! Here I can imagine as the sun sets these fabulous twig arrangements are probably hung with tealights, how beautifully romantic and love the vibrant turquoise linens.

Indian Weddings in Marbella

It is with great excitement we have been asked to decorate some Indian weddings here in Marbella this year. We have been researching all the amazing ceremonies and decorations that are involved in putting together such beautiful and meaningful weddings. We came across this wonderful Indian wedding from Karen Wise, one of Americas top wedding photographers. The attention to detail with the stunning colours really do create the wow factor.

Colours for weddings

This image from Geoff White just describes what we do with details to colour by adding in chair sashes and colours on the tables with napkins completely changes the look of this wedding, smart and elegant, I just love it, can you imagine if this was just white!?

Italian style for weddings

It is my father's birthday today and we are off to Da Bruno's, an Italian here in Marbella, for lunch so it seemed appropriate to sign off this morning with an Italian inspiration board from a fabulous blog I have found from Italy, A Wedding in Jpegs.

Alice in Wonderland themes

Can you imagine my amazement when I found these surreal photos from Jessica Claire, of this Alice in Wonderland party, exactly as I would have created it myself, wonderful use of colours and such work and detail has gone into this party. A brilliant theme, as the possibilities are endless and I love the coloured candlelabras. I do recall one of our stores here selling something very similiar to these last year, will have to make sure I look out for them this year.

More Candy Bar Heaven

It is amazing what you stumble across whilst searching for ideas and how many hugely talented people there are, I came across Geoff White's site the other night and the photographs are amazing, here is just a small selection of some fabulous candy bars from various weddings, certainly the wedding cake takes a back seat now and has been taken over by these fabulous sweet and treat offerings for guests, either incorporating the cake, for the traditionalists who still like to cut the cake or the latest rage of cupcakes. I love the way these tables are themed with the colours and the details that go into them.

Ivory & Dove Grey Wedding in Mijas, El Padrastro

I loved creating this beautiful, stylish wedding for Alison and David in October. The setting was the El Padrastro restaurant in Mijas with such amazing views and the wedding was organised by
Sue at Spanish Dream Weddings. Alison had chosen a beautiful dove grey and ivory theme with crystals.
We had some unusual hiccups though, having planned to decorate some of the trees around the pool with lanterns and fairy lights, when we arrived on the day they had all been reduced to stumps, having been blown down in a terrific storm we had the weekend before, we improvised!
Our other hiccup was having arrived with our cream vintage tablecloths, the highly organised restaurant had already laid the tables and after a few conversations it became apparent from the shoulder shrugging that we were on our own, I don't think we have ever cleared and reset tables so quickly, it was rather stressful for a while as it was a large wedding with 14 tables. These beautiful photos are courtesy of the wonderful Jeremy Standley, truly one of my favorite photographers, thank you Jeremy.

Snow in Marbella

You may have noticed I have decided to keep the festive snowfall on my blog for now, it is -10 in the UK tonight and it is snowing here in Spain within 500 metres inland of the Costa del Sol so thought is apt to keep the winter wonderland theme for a while, I love it in any case! I think I found this fabulous image on Snippet and Ink, one of my favourite blogs.

Chillout Beach Wedding in Marbella

As our 2009 weddings get underway we are putting together many designs for some fantastic weddings, here is one of our inspiration boards for a wedding in Mijas using a chillout red and white theme with a crystal glamour element.

Three Kings in Marbella

Top & Image Cox & Cox, Bottom Image It's a Jaime Thing

It seemed appropriate tonight to mark the epiphany here in Marbella, with the three kings arriving, with these fabulous crowns, a wonderful idea to theme a party or wedding or indeed just use as a decorative details.

Wizard of Oz Wedding theme

Mmmm check out these lovely images from
www.cherryblossomgirl.com aren't they just sooo Wizard of Oz, I can see an inspiration board in progress now!

2009 wedding trends

As 2009 starts this year's weddings will still be extremely vintage, even moreso than last year and brides will be looking for more unusual, quirky ideas for their wedding decorations using vintage style containers to house natural, local flowers, much more natural and laid back, tea party style and of course using loads of beautiful but simple tealights in glass jars hanging in abundance creating that wonderful romantic and mediterranean ambience.

About me

It seems to me that at some point everyone has to share their precious moments, particularly at this time of year and I think it gives my followers and readers an insight into a normal working mother's life so here is how I spent my Christmas and New Year with my beautiful daughters, I have three but one is missing having been holed up in Estepona with her boyfriend for two weeks! (She did come back for Christmas day though!) But here is my eldest and youngest enjoying hair style makeovers on Christmas Day and a lovely walk on the beach on New Years Day, sadly my eldest has gone back to the UK where she now lives but will be back in less than 3 weeks for her 18th, how scary is that! Before you ask Elizabeth my little angel was a miracle and a wonderful surprise and continues to give us many precious moments and so much happiness!
